Deacon's Cupboard

Deacon's Cupboard

The Deacon’s Cupboard is an ecumenical food pantry agency that serves those in need in our designated area. It is our intention to provide food for 2-3 days. Guests can “shop” for their own food. It is located at St. Peter's Erindale Anglican Church at the corner of Dundas Street and Mississauga Road.

We serve postal codes: L5B, L5C, L5H, L5K, L5J, L5L

We are open on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM (noon). We are closed in July.

It is a joint venture of five congregations: Erin Mills United, St Peter’s Erindale Anglican, St Thomas a Becket Anglican, Erindale United and Erindale Presbyterian. These five churches provide non-perishable food, limited fresh produce, frozen meat and dairy products to the Cupboard which is housed in St Peter’s. In addition to our donated food, the Cupboard receives food from FoodBanks Mississauga.

The Cupboard serves approximately 100 families every month.

As well as distributing food to the guests, we have provided school supplies and support the guests with the help of registered nurses during the morning.

The Deacon’s Cupboard has been in operation since 2004 and is currently serving 1,200 families yearly. We are proud of the fact that all money donated goes directly to the purchase of food and supplies; we have no paid helpers and over a million pounds of food have been distributed.

Snow policy: When Mississauga school buses are cancelled the cupboard is NOT open.
