Education & Growing in Faith

Throughout the year, numerous small learning groups are held. These may be in the form of a book study, a movie study and discussion, or workshops on a specific topic.

The book studies and movie discussions have been led by the minister and are run in manageable weekly sessions usually running over three or four weeks. Often these are run in conjunction with Advent or the Lenten Season. Examples of book studies are: “A Lenten Journey: Engaging Difference – Seeing Christ in One Another”; “Open Heart, Open Mind” by Clara Hughes; “Being Mortal” by Dr. Atul Gawande.

Movie studies have included: “The Shack”

Workshops have been conducted inviting speakers with expertise in the topic chosen. An evening presentation was given on waste management. Another area of interest was the use of AED and managing cardiac arrests. Health and wellness topics are popular. EMUC sometimes partners with other churches to present these events.
